Birth Frequency is a unified, four-part creative and community health initiative designed to shift how Black and Indigenous birth is understood, supported, and celebrated. Rather than operating as separate projects, the radio show, docu-series, art exhibitions, and educational workshops function as an interconnected ecosystem—moving people from storytelling >>> to learning >>> to action!

While the project centers Black and Indigenous birth experiences, it also recognizes the disparities affecting other marginalized groups whose reproductive histories and cultural practices are often endangered or erased. By creating inclusive, culturally grounded spaces across multiple mediums, Birth Frequency not only uplifts Black and Indigenous cultural identity, but also contributes to a broader collective movement toward healing, representation, and cultural preservation for communities.

Through this continuous cycle of storytelling >>> reflection >>> learning >>> action, the project reaches audiences across multiple spaces—home, school, museums, and community centers. Its impact includes shifting harmful narratives about Indigenous and Black birth toward strength, agency, and cultural knowledge; increasing community access to midwives, doulas, and birth resources; reducing isolation among expecting parents and caregivers; supporting youth understanding of reproductive justice and cultural history; elevating Black and Native-led creative and birth work across the country and globe; and strengthening overall community health and wellbeing. In essence, Birth Frequency is a platform where our birth stories are honored, learning is culturally grounded, and folks of all marginalized backgrounds can participate in imagining a more just and equitable future for families.
